Hyperpigmentation & Melasma

Hyperpigmentation and melasma are common skin concerns characterized by uneven skin tone and areas of increased pigmentation. These concerns can be influenced by factors such as sun exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation, genetics, and skin type. Melasma, in particular, can be chronic and requires a cautious, individualized approach to management.

At Sydclinic, hyperpigmentation and melasma are addressed through evidence-informed treatment planning focused on skin health, barrier support, and gradual improvement. Treatment recommendations are tailored based on skin type, pigmentation pattern, and individual risk factors, with an emphasis on safety and long-term skin stability.

  • Medical-grade chemical peels may be recommended to support skin renewal and improve uneven pigmentation when appropriate for a patient’s skin type and concern. Treatment selection is individualized, as not all peels are suitable for all skin types or pigmentation patterns.

When appropriate, Vivier® chemical peels or Jessner peels may be incorporated into a treatment plan to support improved skin tone and clarity while minimizing irritation and risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.

  • Microneedling may be recommended to support skin renewal and improve uneven pigmentation through controlled collagen stimulation and enhanced skin repair. At Sydclinic, microneedling for pigmentation concerns is performed using targeted protocols and carefully selected serums designed to support pigment regulation and skin barrier health.

This approach may be used cautiously in cases of melasma and is tailored to reduce the risk of flare while supporting gradual improvement.

  • Medical-grade skincare plays a central role in the management of hyperpigmentation and melasma. Structured skincare protocols are used to support pigment regulation, skin barrier function, and long-term maintenance of results.

When appropriate, non-hydroquinone (non-HQ) or hydroquinone (HQ)–based brightening protocols may be recommended following assessment. Best results are typically achieved when skincare is combined with in-clinic treatments and consistent sun protection.
